My life has changed so much in the last ten years. For one thing I now have a good paying job. It’s not an amazing job, but it’s gets me by. I work at Gurrie Middle School as an English teacher. It’s so nice to work in a place I know so well. Every time I go to work it’s as if I’m still a student there. I know the school so well. I also love to see all the teachers, and see who’s still teaching there. For example Mrs. Ray, the gym teacher, is still here. I remember how awesome she was; she always acted like one of us, a teenager. Mr. Pontrelli is still there too; the other gym teacher. He was always so into the game. He would always play with the girls and Mrs. Ray, and help us win against all the rest of the boys. Another thing that changed in my life is that I finally got my own dog. His name is Charlie, “Char” for short, and he’s a Yorkie. I’m so happy because I’ve always wanted to have a dog, but people in my family are allergic. Besides my awesome new job and my amazingly behaved new Yorkie, I have my own apartment! I have a roommate, Dahlia Medina, we were in the same gym class in 7th and 8th grade. We would always joke around with Mrs. Ray. Oh, the good old days.
Gurrie Middle School has helped me so much! I learned so many new things, but three things really stood out. The first thing is my math skills. I use them every single day! I use them for changing the recipes for dinner, for figuring out the better buys at the store, and for paying the bills. The other thing I learned is how to sew. It really comes in handy when I need to fix a hole in a pair of pants, or a hole in a blanket. It also comes in handy around the holidays when you’re looking for a good present to make. The third skill I am thankful for learning at Gurrie, is how to make an impression on someone. It came in handy for my job interview, and when I was buying my apartment. It’s also useful for making new friends.
Two major things in technology have made an impact on my life. The first one is solar powered cars. They were made to preserve the oil so it can be used for other purposes, but there’s a major problem in this invention. What do we do when the sun isn’t out? This is why Dahlia and I decided to keep our cars. The other major thing that has evolved in technology is flying cars! First solar, now flying! Not many people have them though because it’s fairly new and expensive. Only really wealthy people can pay for them. I must admit they are cool. They have there own “road” in the sky. The cars basically drive themselves on the road, so you really do nothing. What happened to riding your bike?
Recently I had a reunion for my middle school. It was amazing to see everyone, and to see how they’ve changed, because a lot can happen in ten years. A big surprise was how Emily Anfield ended up; she’s a pediatrician, living the dream! She has a really good job, it pays really well. She’s one of the richest people around. She even has a flying car! But an even bigger surprise was what happened to Miranda Smith. It’s really sad, what happened. Miranda was on a hiking trip, all alone of course. She spotted a really pretty butterfly and wanted to catch it. She was too busy concentrating on catching the butterfly that she chased it right off of a cliff! Miranda was a pretty crazy girl, especially in gym, but no one ever thought that’s how she would die. Well at least she died happy, hopefully.
I love my life, it’s just right. I have a nice job, working with people I love. I like my apartment and roommate, and I like my dog Charlie. I loved seeing all my old friends, the reunion was so much fun. A lot has happened in ten years.
